PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Based on the assessment the substance is not considered as PBT / vPvB.

The substance degraded approximately 4% in 28 days in the Closed Bottle test (OECD 301D). Phenol, 2,4,6-tris[(dimethylamino) methyl]- is therefore not readily biodegradable.

The substance has a high solubility and will remain dissolved in water, not partitioning to sediment. The substance is susceptible to rapid photolysis, and this may be the key removal mechanism.

The substance has a very high solubility and a low lipophilic potential and is thus very unlikely to bioaccumulate. The logKow value of -0.66 is clearly below the trigger value for bioaccumulation.

Toxicity

The substance is practically non-toxic to invertebrates and fish, however algal growth was inhibited, with an EC50 (72 hours) of 46.7 mg/L and a NOEC of 6.44mg/L.

Substance is not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction and no other evidence of chronic toxicity of relevance was identified.

Based on modelled data (Catalogic v.5.13.1_CATALOGIC 301C v.11.15.) relevant degradation products do neither fulfil the PBT criteria (not PBT) nor the vPvB criteria (not vPvB)
