Method

Ethical approval:
not applicable
Details on study design:
The Exposure scenario was developed as follows: Adsorptiion vials were placed 10 cm above the liquid resins containing TGMDA either in glass vesels or on plates impregnated with TGMDA in the laboratory, or in 2-4 litre-chamber s containing prepregs heated to 170°C.
Sampling was always between 5 - 15 minutes depending on the exposure.
Exposure assessment:
measured
Details on exposure:
Several scenarios were evaluated:
Heating in a beaker (130°C), heating under addition of hardener to 130°C, mixing at 130°C, dispersion on glassfibrescreen at 70°C, pressing at 170°C, Hardening at 200 °C in a press.

Results and discussion

Results:
The results of samples taken at a distance of 10 cm were between 0.01 - 0.07 mg/m3 air.
Based on these results it was calculated that MY720 in the laboratory air (Lab: 5 x 7 x 3 m = 105 m3) was below 0.23 mg/m3 airr , and the highest value calculated was 0.07 mg/m3., independent of the heating used.

Any other information on results incl. tables

Individual measurements (all at a distance of 10 cmmeasured):

Heating of MY720 to 50°C in a heating unit:       0.01 mg/m3

Heating of MY720 to 130°C in a beaker:        0.01 mg/m3

Addition of hardener HT-976 to MY 720 (130°C):<0.01 mg/m3

mixing at 130°C:                                                  0.03 mg/m3

Dispersion on fibre glass tissue at 70°C:               0.07 mg/m3

Pressing at 170°C in a box                                   0.01 - 0.02 mg/m3

Hardening in a press at 200°C:                            0.02 mg/m3

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Tested under laboratory conditions, the air concentration of MY720 never exceeded 0.003 ppm or 0.07 mg/m3 air even at heating to 200°C
