Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
33 °C

Additional information

Several measured flash point values are available for trichloro(propyl)silane. Haas (2015) obtained a measured flash point value of 33°C at 1013 hPa for trichloro(propyl)silane using a rapid equilibrium method in accordance with ISO 3679 Test Method. In the same study, a flash point value of 31.5°C at 1013 hPa was determined for trichloro(propyl)silane using an Abel closed-cup method in accordance with ISO 13736 Test Method. The studies were conducted in compliance with a known quality system (ISO 9001:2008). The results are considered to be reliable and the key study is selected as the study which uses a rapid equilibrium method.

In Wacker (2002), a flash point value of 30.5°C at 1013 hPa was obtained using a closed-cup method in accordance with DIN 51751 but full details are not available. Similarly, a closed-cup flash point value of 31.9°C at 1013 hPa was reported for the substance using ASTM D3828 -87 (Dow Corning Corporation 1998). An open cup flash point of 34°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance using ASTM D92 (Dai 2003).

Other company data to which reliability could not be assigned reported flash point values of 31°C, 35°C and 99°F (37.2°C).

Differences in the flash point values may be caused by variations in purity of the test substance and in the test method used.

A measured flash point of 33°C and boiling point of 124.4°C at 1013 hPa indicate that the substance should be classified for flammability in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
