Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Test

Melting temperature (°C)

1

<-100

2

<-100

Mean value

<-100 (<173K)

Approximate accuracy of equipment: ±0.5 K (up to 600 K)

The DSC diagrams show no exothermic or endothermic peak in the temperature range between –100°C (173 K) and +25°C (298 K).

Therefore a melting temperature or change in the structure of the substance must be at less than –100°C (< 173 K)

Conclusions:
A melting point value of <-100°C at 1013 hPa has been determined for the test substance using a relevant method but not in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable.

Additional information

Two reliable measured melting/freezing point studies are available for the substance by the same author (Haas 2015 and Haas 2011). The freezing point of trichloro(propyl)silane has been assessed using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) according to OECD Test Guideline 102 and in compliance with a known quality system (ISO 9001:2008). The substance has a measured freezing point of <-100°C at 1013 hPa (Haas 2015). Similarly, a melting point of <-100°C was also determined for the registered substance using a DSC method by the same author (Haas 2011). The results are considered to be reliable and the study that is recently conducted is selected as the key study.

In an available secondary source to which reliability could not be assigned, a limit melting point value of <0°C was reported for the substance.
