First-aid measures

General instruction:

Remove victim from contaminated area. Lay down quiet in recovery position. In any case show the MSDS to the physician.

Inhalation:

Remove to fresh air. Lay down quiet in recovery position. If breathing is difficult, give artificial respiration with breathing bag. Call a physician immediately.

Skin contact:

Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash skin with plenty of water and soap. Get medical attention.

Eye contact:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 min. Separate eyelids with fingers. Get medical attention immediately.

Ingestion:

Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Protective equipment for fire fighters:

Protective suit with self-contained breathing apparatus.

Suitable extinguishing media:

Water spray;

Extinguishing media not suitable for safety reasons:

Water jet;

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products, resulting gases:

In case of fire, formation of sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides, toxic pyrolysis products.

Other information:

Product itself is not combustible. Contact with combustible materials may intensify fires. Adjust fire fighting measures to surrounding fire. Cool endangered containers with water spray and move out of ganger area, if possible. Collect extinguishing water separately, it must not reach the sewage or ground waters. Extinguishing water and combustion residues have to be collected separately and treated as special waste in accordance with local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Keep off any unprotected persons. Wear personal protective equipment (chemical protective gloves, goggles, dust mask, working protection). Avoid contact with skin and eyes and breathing of dust.

Environmental precautions:

Knock down dust with water spray. Avoid penetration into water ways, sewage, soil, and ground waters. In case of release into the environment, inform the local competent authorities.

Clean-up of spills:

Take up by mechanical means. Avoid dust formation. Store in closed containers and dispose in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Clean up spill area and treat as special waste.

Additional information:

Never add other substances or combustible waste to product residues. Disposal of waste material only in accordance with appropriate safety measures and regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling:

Handling only with appropriate protective equipment in well ventilated areas. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and breathing of dust. Take off contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash thoroughly after handling Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.

Storage:

Keep containers tightly closed and dry in a cool, well-ventilated place. Do not store together with food, feedstuff and beverages. Protect from the action of heat. Keep away from combustible materials and high temperature. Avoid formation and deposition of dust. Material may intensify fire in contact with combustible materials.

Exposure controls / personal protection

The substance has sensitising and irritating potential. Protection against is taken into account by the following protective and hygiene measures as well as personal protective equipment:

General protective and hygiene measures:

Handling only in appropriate working areas with sufficient ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace. Handling only with appropriate protective equipment. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and breathing of dust.

Remove contaminated clothing and shoes immediately and wash thoroughly before re-use. Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands thoroughly before breaks and after work.

Personal Protective Equipment

Respiratory protection: In case of dust or aerosol formation, wear dust mask with an approved particle filter (Filter type P).

Hand protection: Butyl rubber gloves with a penetration time > 480 min. Information on suitability for the applied medium should be requested at the glove manufacturer.

Eye protection: Please wear suitable protective goggles (tightly fitting). Also wear face protection if there is a splash hazard. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

Body protection: Select appropriate protective clothing based on chemical resistance data and an assessment of the local exposure potential. ( Type 4: liquid spray; Type 5 solids; Type 6: liquid splash)

Stability and reactivity

Materials to avoid/dangerous reactions:

Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Protect from humidity. Avoid contact with combustible materials. Keep away from accelerators, strong acids and bases, heavy metal salts, reduction agents. Prevent contamination with dust, ashes, rust, etc.

Thermal decomposition/hazardous decomposition products:

Observable thermal decomposition at temperatures > 60 °C. SADT: abt. 170 °C (UN-Test H.4). Only minor decontamination or humidity may lead to perceptible lowering of the SADT. Thermal decomposition may form sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides, toxic pyrolysis products.

Disposal considerations

Product:

Recommendations: Should be disposed in a special landfill in accordance with state, local and federal regulations. The European Waste catalogue Number must be allocated in accordance with the local competent authorities and local waste management enterprises.

Packaging:

Recommendations: Packagings should be completely emptied and recycled. Packagings which could not be cleansed should be disposed off as product waste.
