Additional information

Bis(2-ethylhexyl) peroxydicarbonate has been shown to undergo immediate hydrolytical degradation upon dissolution in aqueous media. Hydrolysis takes place rapidly, as shown by the finding that the intact peroxide is not detectable in aqueous solutions after 24 hours reaction time. The following degradation products were detected:

- 2-ethylhexanoic acid (CAS No. 149-57-5)

- 2-ethyl-1-hexanol (CAS No. 104-76-7, main product, comprising > 96 % of analytically determinable degradation products)

- 2-heptanone (CAS No. 110-43-0)

- 3-heptanol (CAS No. 589-82-2)

Additional data on the photochemical stability of the substance are not available.
