Description of key information

The autoflammability temperature of the xylene isomers ranges from 463 to 528˚C. The auto flammability of m-xylene is 527˚C, for o-xylene it is 463˚C and for p-xylene it is reported as 528˚C. The mean value is 506˚C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
506 °C

Additional information

The CRC Handbook (Lide, 2008) is a peer reviewed handbook and so can be considered reliable and suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint.
