Harlan laboratories (2010) reports the following for three representative samples (e.g. one from each group) used for testing:
nickel matte (sulphidic low-copper) as a dark grey solid,
nickel matte (sulphidic high-copper) as a black solid,
and nickel matte (metallic) as dark grey solid.
