Description of key information

Three ready biodegradability tests are available for propylene glycol butyl ether. All tests were conducted under GLP and according to OECD guidelines 301E, 301D and 301B.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Propylene glycol butyl ether showed 90% degradation in the 301 E - modified OECD screening test within the 10 day window and is therefore considered "readily biodegradable".

This data is supported by > 60% degradation of PnB observed in the Closed Bottle Test and the Modified Sturm Test.
