Short-term study on fish, Daphnia and algae were reported, according to EU method, and GLP criteria, see detailed information in section, and, respectively.

According to the results of chemical safety assessment on aquatic environment, risks can be controlled, and as itaconic acid is readily biodegradable and no potential for bioaccumulation, it is no classified on aquatic environment according to CLP Regulations. According to REACH Annex IX, there is no need to investigate further effects on aquatic organisms.
