Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From Oct. 13, 2011 to Nov. 28, 2011
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
according to OECD and EU principles of GLP
Type of method:
method according to Siwoloboff
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
112 °C
Remarks on result:
other: At 81°C bubbles started to form at 112°C the sample pushed up out of the tube. This was believed to be decomposition.
Conclusions:
The boiling point of MEA-LAS could not be determined by the Siwoloboff method. The test material decomposed at temperature of 112°C (at 99.4 kPa).
Executive summary:

The boiling point of MEA-LAS was evaluated by following EU Method A.2 (Boiling Point/Boiling Range). Boiling point of the test substance was measured by a Siwoloboff method.

At 81°C bubbles started to form, at 112°C the sample pushed up out of the tube. This is believed to be decomposition.

The boiling point of MEA-LAS could not be determined by the Siwoloboff method (OECD 103). The test material decomposed at temperature of 112°C (at 99.4 kPa).

This boiling point test is classified as acceptable, and satisfies the guideline requirements of the OECD 103 method.

Description of key information

The boiling point of MEA-LAS was evaluated following EU Method A.2 (Boiling Point/Boiling Range; Siwoloboff method).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance decomposed at 112°C (at ca. 99.4 kPa) before boiling.
