Description of key information

Based on a reliable study performed according to the EU method A10, hydroquinone is not highly flammable and therefore is not classified as flammable. 
Moreover, based on its chemical structure and on experience in production or handling, hydroquinone is not considered as a self-reactive or self-heating substance, is not considered as a pyrophoric solid, is not considered as organic peroxide and is not considered as substance which, in contact with water, emits flammable gases.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the above information and according to the criteria of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2008, hydroquinone is NOT classified as flammable, self-reactive, pyrophoric solid, organic peroxide and substance which, in contact with water, emits flammable gases.
