Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The bioaccumulation potential of the substance is low.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In contrast to an estimated log KOW of 6.5, which indicates a potential of the substance to bioaccumulate, a real bioaccumulation potential in the aquatic environment is not expected.

Due to the very low water solubility (< 0.1 mg/L) of oleamide and the characteristics that the substance is readily biodegradable it is not likely that they can be found in the aquatic environment in high concentrations. Additionally, due to the results of the Mackay LEVEL 1 calculation, water is not a compartment of concern, only a very small amount is expected in the water phase (0.2%). Data from acute and chronic studies afford that there is no toxicity in the range of water solubility for aquatic organisms (algae, daphnia and fish). Aditionally a bioaccumulation test is technically hardly feasable due to the highly insolubility of the test substance and is not necessary due to the nonhazardous character of the test substance.
