Based on its physico-chemical properties such the water solubility (> 1000 g/L) and the potential for adsorption (Koc: 22.6 L/Kg), the surface water was expected to be the main target for environmental distribution of 2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethyl acetate (CAS 112-15-2). This is supported by Level III fugacity distribution modeling indicating that ca. 90% of the substance will be available in surface water compartment and ca. 7% in air (Corti, 2021). However, due to its ready biodegradability and the susceptibility for indirect photodegradation in air the substance will not persist in these compartments.
