Description of key information

The melting point of the test material was determined to be 33.6 ºC according to a non GLP compliant, key study (Balazs, 2002a), performed in line with the standardised guidelines, OECD 102 and ASTM E 794-98 (Standard Test Method for Melting and Crystallization Temperatures by Thermal Analysis).

The key study (Balazs, 2002a) is a non GLP compliant study which was performed according to standardised guidelines with a sufficient level of detail to assess the quality of the study. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) method was adopted to determine the melting point. The study was performed to a good standard and was assigned a reliability score of 2 using the principles for assessing data quality as set out in Klimisch (1997).
