Description of key information

The surface tension of the substance is 59.8 mN/m at 22.2 deg. C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
59.8
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
1 210

Additional information

The surface tension of the substance was determined by a ring method following EU Method A.5 and OECD 115 guidelines. A White Electrical Institute interfacial tension balance was used which gave a direct reading for surface tension that was within the required accuracy of +/- 0.5mN/m as a result of the reduced ring dimensions.

A test solution was prepared by loading at a nominal concentration of 1.21 g/L. Measurements on a dilution of the supernatant after centrifuging gave an average surface tension measurement of 59.8 mN/m at 22.20C.
