Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

DCDPS is not acute toxic to green algae. Effects on reproduction and growth were observed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.28 mg/L

Additional information

The threshold concentration for chronic effects of DCDPS was obtained experimentally under GLP in a valid study according to OECD TGD 201 on green algae (Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata). The range of chosen test concentrations did not allow the derivation of acute effect levels because highest test concentration was below the water solubility level (i.e. 0.86 mg/L, Boelhouwers 2004) and beneficial effects at low concentrations occurred. The study is however conclusive since by application of hormesis curve fitting the absence of adverse effects in the magnitude of 50% until the level of water solubility was confirmed. In conclusion DCDPS was at the level of its water solubility not acute toxic (EC50> water solubility). The No Observerd Effect Concentration (NOEC), based on biomass integral at test termination was established to be 0.28 mg/L. The LOEC is 0.49 mg/L.
