A cohort of 1018 fur dyers and dressers pensioned between 1952 and 1977 was identified. Death certificates were obtained for 97.7% of the 540 deaths. Comparisons with the population revealed significantly higher SMRs for all malignant neoplasms combined among all fur workers.  Dyers experienced elevated mortality from stomach cancer. Dressers had a 3-fold increase in deaths from lung cancer and slightly elevated death incidence from respiratory diseases.
