Description of key information

The reliable (RL category 1) 48 h EC50 for daphnids was 17 mg/L. A further 24 h EC50 of 35 mg/L is reported but was considered unreliable due to insufficient documentation (RL 3).

Additional information

In a reliable key study, the submission substance was tested for acute immobilization of Daphnia magna compliant to GLP and according to OECD 202 and EU-method C.2 (RL category 1). Test item concentrations were analytically verified and both main constituents proved to be stable during the pre-experiment.

For the submission substance, an EC50 (48 h) of 17 mg/L (95% CL of 11 - 29 mg/L) and a NOEC (48 h) of 10 mg/L (based on BHMT monitored concentration) were determined in the definitive test.

A further supporting test result is available. In an acute toxicity test on Daphnia magna according to ISO 6341 (immobilisation, 24h) an EC50 of 35 mg/L was determined for the submission substance. The study was considered unreliable due to the short exposure time (24 h) and insufficient documentation (RL 3).
