Description of key information

The 14 day LC50 is > 1000 mg/kg soil dw in earthworms (Eisenia foetida).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for soil macroorganisms:
1 000 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

The acute toxicity of the test substance to the earthworm Eisenia foetida was determined in a GLP-compliant study according to OECD guideline 207 (CG, 1992). In this study, 4 replicates of 10 earthworms were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 12.3, 37, 111, 333 and 1000 mg test substance per kg of soil d.w. After 7 and 14 days, mortality, flaccidity and live weights of surviving organisms were recorded. No effects were noted on mortality and flaccidity. Decreased average live weights of test organisms were seen at all test concentrations, but did not significantly differ from controls. Based on these findings, the 14-d LC50 value is determined to be 1000 mg/kg soil (d.w.).
