Acute tests on all three trophic levels were performed to examine the aquatic toxicity of HDDA.

Fish turned out to be the most sensitive specieas revealing an LC50 (96h) of 0.38 mg/L, whereas EC50s of 2.7 mg/L (48h) for Daphnia and 2.3 mg/L (72h, based on growth rate) for Algae have been obtained.

Furthermore, results from chronic aquatic testing covering three trophic levels are available for HDDA. Again, fish showed highest sensitivity (NOEC = 0.0723 mg/L), followed by Daphnia (NOEC = 0.14 mg/L based on reproduction) and Algae (NOEC = 0.9 mg/L)

Thus, HDDA is considered acutely very toxic for aquatic organisms and toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.
