Description of key information
According to Annex IX column 2 of REGULATION (EC) No 1907/2006, toxicity terrestrial studies do not need to be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. Furthermore, according as well to Annex X column 2, birds toxicity studies can be waived taking in account the large mammalian dataset. The substance is not expected to partition into the terrestrial environment according to the CSR which determined almost exclusive partitioning to the aquatic environment under several scenarios. Environmental monitoring data from the Perstorp production facilities did not detect any monomers in any soil and sediment samples. The substance present a low bioaccumulation potential (logKow was 0.32) and low human toxicity (LD50 values reported are >2000-4290 mg/kg bw), provide further validation that exposure and toxicity to birds is not expected.
