Description of key information

Two equivalent studies; 21-days reproduction of Daphnia magna; NOECs of 0.105 (Fraunhofer, 2004) and 0.29 mg/L (Moe, 1998)
Geometric mean: 0.174 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water invertebrates

Fresh water invertebrates
Effect concentration:
0.174 mg/L

Additional information

2 studies of inhibition of reproduction of daphnia according to OECD 211 guideline have been carried out, one with and one without the use of dispersant. Because no major differences have been observed between the results of the two studies the geometric mean (0.174 mg/L) of the two NOECs (0.105 mg/L, Fraunhofer, 2004 and 0.29 mg/L, MoE, 1998) is used in the risk assessment.. In addition, both studies provide some useful information on acute toxicity to invertebrates (see section 6.1.3).
