Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Disodium persulfate was not tested for flammability properties. A read across approach was applied for the flammability test from the category member diammonium persulfate, as this substance shows similar physicochemical properties. Additionally, no flammability in contact with water and no pyrophoric abilities were expected. Thus, the latter two studies were waived.

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Disodium persulfate was not tested for flammability properties. A read across approach was applied to assess flammability using data from the category member diammonium persulfate (Degussa, 1989) as this substance shows similar physicochemical properties. As diammonium persulfate was determined to be not highly flammable (Degussa, 1989), disodium persulfate was considered not highly flammable as well.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Assessment of flammability properties for disodium persulfate was based on a read across approach from the category member diammonium persulfate, as this substance shows similar physicochemical properties.

Based on the results obtained from the read across approach (Degussa, 1989) and taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the fifteenth time in Regulation (EU) No 2020/1182, disodium persulfate was not considered a flammable solid.
