Description of key information

Troclosene sodium was shown to be oxidizing. Troclosene sodium dihydrate was not an oxidizer.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
yes

Additional information

Oxidizing studies are available for both the anydrous and dihydrate forms according to EU Method A17 (Smeykal 2007).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Troclosene sodium was shown to be an oxidizer in the A17 study and therefore warrants a classification as an oxidizer under DPD. For CLP troclosene sodium should be classified as oxidizing category 2 with the hazard statement H272: May intensify fire; oxidizer. Troclosene sodium, dihydrate was not an oxidizer and therefore no classification is warranted.
