No experimental data evaluating the hydrolysis of Fatty acids, C16-C18, methyl esters (CAS No. 85586-21-6) are available. However, according to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex VIII, Column 2,, testing for hydrolysis is not required since the substance is considered to be readily biodegradable. In addition, the results from the supporting QSAR estimations calculated for representative fatty acid components C16 and C18 (HYDROWIN v2.00) indicate that hydrolysis is not a relevant degradation pathway in the environmental fate of this substance, with half-lives (DT50 values) of 7.3 years (pH 7) and 266 days (pH 8)(López Parrón, 2011).
