Skin sensitisation
Endpoint conclusion
- Additional information:
Animal data on sensitisation are not available.
According to ECETOC JACC report no. 53; Cyanides of Hydrogen, Sodium and Potassium, and Acetone Cyanohydrin (CAS No. 74-90-8, 143-33-9, 151-50-8 and 75-86-5 "studies have not been conducted, as the standard amount of cyanide applied in these studies is already lethal."
Migrated from Short description of key information:
Experimental data on sensitisation are lacking. Due to the very high acute toxicity skin sensitisation testing is not applicable. The amount of test material required in a standard skin sensitisation tests is expected to be considerably above the level of systemic toxicity. The very high dermal toxicity is reflected in the legally binding harmonised classification as given in REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008 Annex VI Table 3.1 (GHS): Acute tox. 1; H310 and Table 3.2 (Annex I of Directive 67/548/EEC): T+; R26/27/28.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Experimental data on sensitisation are lacking. 2 -Hydroxy-2 -methylpropanenitrile is classified as very toxic by dermal contact (legally binding harmonised classification as given in REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008 Annex VI Table 3.1 (GHS): Acute tox. 1; H310 and Table 3.2 (Annex I of Directive 67/548/EEC): T+; R26/27/28), therefore sensitisation testing is not indicated. Classification for sensitisation is not possible.
