Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Physico-chemical properties were determined from experimental testing, except Vapour Pressure, Partition Coefficient and Water Solubility that were derived from data on major constituents (cineole, limonene and alpha-pinene). Some endpoints were waived, based on chemical structure or experience.

Eucalyptus oil is a clear, colourless, fluid liquid at ambient temperature, which doesn't undergo freezing down to -20°C, and distillates between ca 153 and 184°C. In water, it is slightly soluble, and expected to floate. No dissociation nor surface-active properties are anticipated. It is quite volatile, and has potential for bioaccumulation.

Flammability seems to be driven by the major component, therefore both grades (high and low cineol content) will be similarly classified as Flammable (cat.3 according to CLP criteria).

It is not regarded as hazardous with regard to other physical hazards, based on CLP criteria.

Due to its low viscosity, potential for Aspiration hazard should be considered.

Considering the UVCB nature of the substance, especially as two quality grades have been defined (crude/rectified, based on cineole content), some variations are expected in the physico-chemical parameters.
