Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Log Kow (alpha-pinene) = 4.42
regression-based estimate, BCFBAF v3.01; BCF = 383 L/kg wet-wt
Arnot-Gobas upper trophic (including biotransformation), BCFBAF v3.01; BCF = 1421 L/kg wet-wt
TGD part. II, eq. (74); BCF = 1140 L/kg wet-wt
geometric mean = 852.90 L/kg wet-wt

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
852.9 L/kg ww

Additional information

Eucalyptus oil is a natural complex substance. It is a mixture of several components, but three of them represent 85% of that mixture. Log Kow of each of these three components were determined. Without available experimental BCF studies, Eucalyptus oil BCF value was determined regarding the highest log Kow value of these components. The highest log Kow value is for alpha-pinene (4.42), therefore it was assumed that BCF of alpha-pinene would be conservative enough for the mixture.

Three calculation approaches were performed (Table1):

-         Regression-based estimate, BCFBAF v3.01

-         Arnot-Gobas upper trophic (including biotransformation), BCFBAF v3.01

-         TGD part. II, eq. (74)
