Description of key information

the susbtance has an auto ignition temperature of 448°C to 460°C. No information on atmospheric pressure reported.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
460 °C

Additional information

Information regarding auto flammability of MIBK was sourced from three separate handbooks. CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (81st Ed.) and The Condensed Chemical Dictionary (10th Ed.), which are known to contain peer-reviewed data of Klimisch-2 reliability and Directory of Solvents, Blackie Academic & Professional, not assignable.

The handbooks report that the substance has an auto ignition temperature of 448°C,460°C and 460°C respectively. This value is above boiling point of 116 to 118°C, and representsthe lowest temperature at which vapours of MIBK will spontaneously ignite in a normal atmosphere without an external source of ignition.
