Additional information

Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK) has a low octanol/water partition coefficient (Log Kow = 1.9) and is very soluble in water (14.1 g/L at 20°C). Based on these physico-chemical properties, MIBK when released in the environment is expected to mainly partition in water phase. This is also supported by its predicted Koc of 148.5 L/kg indicating that MIBK is mobile in soil.

MIBK is readily biodegradable and does not indicate any concern in terms of persistency in the environment.

MIBK high water solubility and low Log Pow tend to confirm that MIBK is not bioaccumulative.
