Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

C12-14AS TEA (CAS 90583-18-9) is hydrolytically stable under environmental conditions.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No hydrolysis studies are available for C12-14AS TEA (CAS 90583-18-9). Nevertheless, the test substance is readily biodegradable and therefore hydrolysis testing does not have to be performed.

The OECD SIDS Initial Assessment Report for category of alkyl sulfates, alkane sulfonates and α-olefin sulfonates (2007) states that alkyl sulfates are susceptible to hydrolysis in hot alkaline and acidic media and hydrolyze to sulfate and the corresponding alcohol. However, under environmental conditions alkyl sulfates are considered to be hydrolytically stable.
