The QSAR calculated rate constant for the OH sensitized photodegradation of dodecanedioic acid is approximately 1.41E-11 cm3/(molecule * s). At 500,000 OH radicals / cm3 (approximate 24-hour mean in central Europe), this corresponds to a half-life of 27.4 hours. In view of the negligible partitioning to the atmosphere, photodegradation will not be a relevant degradation pathway. Hydrolysis can be excluded based on structure. Therefore abiotic degradation of dodecanedioic acid in the environment will be of low importance.
