Description of key information

Long-term toxicity testing on invertebrates (preferred species Daphnia) is recommended (see "discussion" below).

Additional information

Although due to a log Pow<1.4 (see IUCLID section 4.7) charcoal, coconut shell is not expected to bioaccumulate, long-term (21-day) Daphnia reproduction testing is recommended as smaller particles of charcoal, coconut shell products might be able to decrease feeding capacity of the daphnids via clogging of the filtration apparatus and thus leading to starvation.
