Description of key information

No study exists for the viscosity of n-Dodecyl methacrylate.

Read across to the structural analogue individual substance i-Decyl methacrylate (IDMA) and structural analogue UVCB substance C12 -C16 methacrylate (LIMA, CAS: 90551 -76 -1):

i-Decyl methacrylate: Viscosity: 3.56 mm²/s at 20 °C, OECD 114 no GLP, experimental data (Liddiard C (2008)

C12 -C16 methacrylate (LIMA): Viscosity: 6.24 mm²/s at 20 °C, OECD 114 no GLP, experimental data (Liddiard C (2008)

Additional information

Overall, the physicochemical properties of the long chain alkyl methacrylates (C12 to C22 methacrylates) are showing a regular pattern. The viscosity is increasing with increasing molecular weight/volume (i.e. alkyl ester group) within the series.

In analogy of the related UVCB substance LIMA (C12 -C16 methacrylate) the kinematic viscosity of Dodecylmethacrylate is approximately 6.24 mm²/s at 20 °C. (Liddiard C (2008)).
