Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Data are not available to allow the distribution of DBTL, within the environment to be modelled. However, based on the low water solubility and the Log Kow of 4.44 of the substance it is unlikely to be associated with water to a significant degree but is more likely to be associated with soils and sediment. It is therefore possible that should it enter a sewage treatment plant (STP) it could be associated with sludge with subsequent transfer to agricultural soil. Based on the hydrolysis data it is also probable that some hydrolysis of DBTL will occur both in STPs and the aqautic environment.

Based on the known chemical properties it is unlikely to be present in air to any significant degree.
