Description of key information

None of the substances in the category Rosin, hydrogenated rosin and their salts are considered to be flammable, flammable on contact with water or pyrophoric.

Resin acids and rosin acids, sodium salts is not highly flammable (ignites briefly and does not propagate). Flammability on contact with water and pyrophoricity are waived on the basis of handling and use.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP-compliant flammability study read across from a structurally related monovalent salt (Resin acids and Rosin acids, potassium salt), conducted according to EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids)), was used for Resin acids and Rosin acids, sodium salts (Chilworth Technology, 2010a).

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data indicates that Resin acids and Rosin acids, sodium salts is not classified as flammable
