Additional information

Mayes et al., (1988) reported the results of an early-life stage test started with newly fertilized rainbow trout eggs (Salmo gairdneri) conducted in accordance with an in-house SOP of the Dow Chemical Company and GLP. After a total of 87 days of exposure a NOEC value of 0.229 mg/L was determined based on length measurements of surviving larvae. This study will be used as a key study in the freshwater aquatic hazard assessment. No reliable studies were identified on saltwater species.

The study results summarized by the Ministry of Environment-Japan are included here, and flagged as (currently) unassignable reliability. These results are summarized publically, were commissioned by a government authority for assessment under a separate regulatory program, and were conducted according to OECD guidelines and GLP standards. The resulting NOEC value is in agreement with results summarized for other studies, and application of this value would not result in derivation of a lower PNECaqua in the Chemical Safety Assessment.
