First-aid measures

General advice:
Take off immediately all contaminated clothing (including shoes).
Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Keep under medical surveillance. In case of problems : Hospitalise.
Skin contact: Wash immediately during a long time with plenty of water.
Eye contact: Wash well-open eyes immediately, abundantly and thoroughly with water. Consult an ophthalmologist.
Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. Hospitalise.

Protection of first-aiders: If entering a saturated atmosphere, wear a self contained breathing apparatus. Protective suit.

Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
Notes to physician: Do not administer catecholamines (because of the cardiac effect caused by the product).

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder extinguishers.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
At high temperature, thermal decomposition giving toxic and corrosive products : Hydrogen chloride gas, Phosgene

Precautions for fire-fighters:
Specific methods: In case of fire nearby, remove exposed containers. Containers/tanks should be cooled with water spray. Evacuate personnel to safe areas
Special protective actions for fire-fighters: wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Complete suit protecting against chemicals.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Evacuate non-essential staff and those not equipped with individual protection apparatus. Prohibit contact with skin and eyes and inhalation of vapours. Use personal protective equipment. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. In case of leak, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Environmental precautions:
Do not release into the environment. Do not let product enter drains. Dam up.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:
Recovery: Pump into a labelled inert emergency tank. Shovel into suitable container for disposal. Small quantities : Soak up with inert absorbent material (Vermiculite, Clean sand). After cleaning, flush away traces with water. Recover waste water for processing later.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling: Technical measures/Precautions:
Storage and handling precautions applicable to products: Liquid. Harmful. Irritant. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at machinery. Provide showers, eye-baths. Provide self-contained breathing apparatus nearby. Well ventilate empty vats and tanks before entering.

Safe handling advice: Strictly limit the quantities of product in the work area to those which are absolutely necessary for the work in hand. Great cleanliness in work areas is a necessary and important factor for safety. Handle and open container with care. Keep away from heat, sparks and flames. Prohibit inhalation of vapours. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.

Hygiene measures: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Prohibit contact with skin and eyes and inhalation of vapours. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Keep tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Store protected from moisture and heat. Protect against light. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Do not smoke. Provide a catch-tank in a bunded area. Provide impermeable floor.

Incompatible products: Bases, Acids, Oxidizing agents, Oxygen

Packaging material:
Recommended: Iron, Tinned or plated iron
To be avoided: Light metals and alloys in the presence of humidity, including parts of the installation in contact with the product
