Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

>401°C at 100.9 kPa

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

An experimental study compliant with the guideline (Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, A1 Capillary method (1.4.1)), selected as the Key Study, showed that the melting point of potassic extracts was >401° at 100.9 kPa.

This experimental study is consistent with the melting point of each sulfate salts (K2SO4, Na2SO4 and CaSO4) that compose the reaction mass. According to the OECD SIDS dossiers on each main constituents (see table below) their melting point are between 884°C and 1450°C, well above 401°C.
