Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In accordance with Column 2 of REACh Annex IX, the testing is not required as the substance is readily biodegradable.

In a GLP study equivalent to OECD 308 (Aerobic and Anerobic Transformation in Aquatic System), biodegradation of diphenyl ether and other compounds were examined in a natural soil/groundwater system obtained from a site historically contaminated with hydrocarbons. Diphenyl oxide was readily degraded under aerobic condition in microcosms containing soil and groundwater. The incubation time required for 50% disappearance of Diphenyl oxide was in the range of 9.5 to 19.0 days for unamended microcosms. The time required for 50% degradation was found to be 8.0 to 10.5 days for microcosms amended with nutrients.
