Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The physical/chemical properties of diphenyl ether indicate that emissions of the substance to the environment would have moderate potential for inter-media transport. For example, the Henry's Law constant, calculated from measured vapor pressure and water solubility, is 0.00012 atm*m3/mole at 25 °C; indicating a moderate potential for volatilization from water to atmosphere. The log Koc value of 3.3 indicates a low to moderate potential for adsorption/accumulation in soil and sediment. Emissions to air will deposit largely to soil, and emissions to water will volatilize somewhat to air but also will partition to sediment. The expected reactivity of the substance in all compartments, via photolysis and biodegradation, will prevent the substance from accumulating or persisting in any of these environmental compartments.
