Mechanical shock sensitivity

None of the six single tests with an impact energy of 40 J showed any sparking or exploding. Therefore the test series using impact energies of 7.5 J were not necessary. No impact sensitivity of the test item was observed.

Thermal sensitivity

Using the 6 mm orifice after 73-75 s the start of a reaction was observed in the single tests (yellow coloured flame of about 1.5 m height above the tube and escaping of the test substance). The reaction lasted 65-67 s. After about 170 s the bottom of the steel tubes became glowing red. The burners were turned off after 5 minutes. After cooling down it was observed that all the tubes were unchanged.

Using the 2 mm orifice after 67-69 s the start of a reaction was observed in the single tests (yellow coloured flame of about 1.5 m height above the tube and escaping of the test substance connected with a noisy sound). The reaction lasted 65-66 s. After about 170 s the bottom of the steel tubes became glowing red. The burners were turned off after 5 minutes. After cooling down it was observed that all the tubes were unchanged.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The substance was reported not to be an explosive hazard, determined in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol. No further details are available.

Description of key information

Explosiveness: Not explosive

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The substance was determined not to be explosive in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol (EU Method A.14), and in compliance with a known quality system (ISO 17025).

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not classified for explosivity on the basis of measured explosivity study in accordance with EU Method A.14.
