Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

This substance is void of any chemical structures commonly associated with explosive properties, such as metal peroxides, peroxo-acid-anions, azides, and halogen oxides. Further, it is noted that despite long-term industrial use of the substance, it is not classified for explosive properties according to UN transport regulations (waiving in accordance with section 1, Annex XI of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 (REACH)).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

This substance is void of any chemical structures commonly associated with explosive properties, such as metal peroxides, peroxo-acid-anions, azides, and halogen oxides. As an inorganic salt, consisting only of Ag+ and Cl- ions, silver chloride is also considered to be not combustible/flammable, so that any rapid combustion can be excluded. Hazard classification for explosive properties is not required.
