Description of key information

For the dissociation constant determination at 20 °C only a SPARC Online Calculation from 2008 is available. Most data given are referred to an ambient temperature of 25 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

pKa at 20°C:
10.787

Additional information

According to Beilstein (2006), monomethylamine has a pKa value of 10.76 (mean of 2 values) at 25 °C and a pKb value of 3.33 (mean of 7 values) at the same temperature. A pKa value of 10.66 at 25 °C is reported for monomethylamine according to Weast (2006). A similar value was indicated by Dean (1987), who reported a pKa of 10.62 at 25 °C. Additionally dissociation constants are estimated by the SPARC Online Calculator (2008) with the result of 10.657 at 25 °C, and 10.787 at 20 °C.
