Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information - workers

The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) derived a Workplace Environmental Exposure Level (WEEL) guide

for the occupational exposure. The starting point was the NOAEL (31 mg/m3) of the 3 -month inhalation performed in rats (Dow, 1979) in which signs of irritation of the respiratory tract and mucous membranes were observed at higher concentrations. In addition animals exposed to 16 ppm for 12 days experienced irritation, however, all organs were normal (Gage, 1970). Dermal carcinogenicity studies were negative. Thus, a WEEL guide of 1 ppm as an 8 -hr time-weighed average should prevent irritation and systemic effects workers. The DNEL long-term for systemic and acute local effects is 1 ppm (6 mg/m3).
