Kieselguhr soda ash flux calcined is an inorganic substance which contains both amorphous and crystalline silica. These substances are expected to combine indistinguishably with the soil layer or sediment due to their similarity with inorganic soil matter.

Based on the chemical nature of the substance (inorganic structure and chemical stability no degradation is expected to occur.

Soil and sediment degradation studies are not considered to be applicable as the test material is essentially insoluble in water and consists of both amorphous and crystalline silica which occur naturally in these compartments.

Data on volatilisation is not available. Kieselguhr soda ash flux calcined is an inorganic solid with a high melting point (>450 °C) and therefore can be considered to be non volatile.

No risk of bioaccumulation or secondary poisoning is anticipated.

 

Assessment of PBT/vPvB properties; comparison with the criteria of Annex XIII (Regulation EC (No.) 1907/2006.

 

According to the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment, Chapter R.11: PBT Assessment, the PBT and vPvB criteria of Annex XIII to the regulation do not apply to inorganic substances. Therefore kieselguhr soda ash flux calcined is not considered to require any further assessment of PBT properties.
