Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Several measured self-igntion temperatures are available. Those known to have been conducted according to international or national standard methods are considered reliable, even though little further information about the studies is available. Three studies gave values in the range 235 - 260°C; one study gave a value of 316°C. Variations in the self-ignition temperature values may be caused by variations in purity of the test substance and in the test method used, although it is not clear why such a large variation is observed between the lower and upper values. The values in the range 235 -260°C are considered to represent a worst-case. Therefore, the key study is selected from among these values because it is the only one of them with a purity value (99%) given.
