Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In general, all LC/LL50(96h) values derived with different fish species for various substances in the SCAE C2 -C8 category were above the limit of water solubility. No mortalities or sublethal effects were observed at any concentration.

No studies are available for Fatty acids, C16-18, 2-ethylhexyl ester on short-term toxicity to fish.

In the selected read-across study with Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS 85049-37-2) the acute toxicity to Danio rerio was tested according to OECD 203 with nominal concentrations of 1000, 3000 and 10000 mg/L. The test substance was directly added into the test medium and tested as an emulsion. No mortality was observed up to the highest test concentration and an LC50(96h) > 10000 mg/L could be stated (Richterich 2001).

In another read-across from Fatty acids, C8-16, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS 135800-37-2), the marine species Scopthalmus maximus was tested with a WAF, resulting in a nominal LL50(96h) value > 5600 mg/L (Van der Kerken 2002).
