Description of key information

In accordance with the column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study does not need to be conducted for solids , if the substance has a melting point =160°C.
Moreover, the substance decomposes under test conditions due to Self-Accelerating Decomposition and not due to an oxidative self-heating. The relevant parameter for thermal stability is the Self-Accelerating Decompsition Temperature (SADT). Self-Accelerating Decompsition Temperature (SADT) of Dibenzoyl Peroxide is 65°C (refrence SADT: CLP regulations 2.15.2.3 and UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tets and Criteria, 5th revised edition, sub.sections 28.1, 28.2, 28.3 and Table 28.3).

Additional information

The determination of auto flammability temperature of dibenzoyl peroxide has been waived according to the column 2 of Reach Annex VII. Nevertheless, some data coming from literature indicate that the auto flammability temperature of the substance would be around 80°C.
